Thank you to our outstanding building industry
panelists who shared their insight and experiences with
over 300 of BIA's members at the Del Mar Hilton last Thursday.
The panel consisted of Guy Asaro with Meridian Development,
Ian Gill with Silvergate Development, Chris Hall
with Hallmark Communities, and Russ Murfey with Murfey
Construction and was moderated by Mike Neal of H.G. Fenton.
These dynamic panelists told personal stories and shared
their experiences navigating the regulations within the
industry - a serious topic that was delivered with a sense

to us about regulation and the changes that are experienced,
the impact that technological changes have had on the
industry over the years, real estate cycles they have
gone through, and career perspective. This inspiring and
thought provoking conversation was a great way to start

announces 2016 'Hall of Fame' inductees

leaders will be inducted into the California Homebuilding
Foundation (CHF) 2016 Hall of Fame on June 21 at the Westin
St. Francis in San Francisco. For more than 30 years,
the Foundationís annual Hall of Fame gala has recognized
over 200 distinguished individuals for their professional
and philanthropic contributions to homebuilding, construction
and rel ated industries. The inductee class of 2016 is
Ian M. Gill: Founding Principal
of Highland Partnership, Inc., a regional Design Build
general contractor, and Silvergate Development in San
Diego, CA. Gillís over 40 years in the real estate development
and construction industry encompass numerous residential
and commercial projects in the United States and Great
Britain, including his executive role for the Redevelopment
Agency in coordinating the planning and build -out of
the Downtown Ballpark District in San Diego. Gill obtained
his M.S. in Real Estate and Construction from Loughboro
ugh University, certification from the Royal Institution
of Chartered Surveyors (Quantity Surveying Division) and
his Class B General Contractor License from the State
of California. As a principal of Highland and Silvergate
he is responsible for overseeing the operations of both

Developer Completes $14 Million La Mesa

Developer Silvergate Development LLC recently
completed The Quarry, a $14 million, 60-unit apartment
community in La Mesa. Officials said San Diego-based Sunrise
Management has been tapped to manage the three-building
complex spanning 1.6 acres at 4330 Palm Ave., where move-ins
have commenced. According to a statement from Sunrise,
the complex has sustainable features including solar panels,
double-paned windows, LED lighting and natural spring
water for irrigation. The project was designed by Tanner
Hecht Architecture, with construction led by Highland
Partnership Inc. Silvergate Development is the managing
partner for the projectís ownership entity, Palm Terrace
La Mesa Partners LLC.
